On Saturday, September 7, ES-KO Angola partnered with its client Barloworld for a special day of giving back at the EL BETEL shelter for minors in Luanda.

ES-KO Angola embraced the invitation as an opportunity to contribute to the local community, with ES-KO staff working alongside Barloworld employees who generously dedicated their day off to participate.

The day began in Barloworld’s kitchens, where the team prepared a nutritious lunch using products donated by ES-KO. At 12:30, the freshly cooked meal was served to the 260 children who live at the shelter — 135 boys and 125 girls, ranging from 2 to 17 years old.

Following the meal, the shelter’s director welcomed ES-KO Angola’s representatives for a tour of the facility and shared insights into the organization’s daily challenges. Built on land provided by the local government, the shelter relies entirely on contributions from individuals and businesses to continue its mission of caring for vulnerable children.

The initiative concluded with a mutual commitment to return next year, reaffirming a partnership that extends beyond a single event. While one meal cannot solve all the challenges faced by the shelter, the day served as a meaningful step toward fostering solidarity and inspiring other businesses to contribute.

This initiative supports several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

  • Zero Hunger: End hunger, achieve food security, improve nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture.

  • Partnerships for the Goals: Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development.

  • Reduced Inequalities: Reduce inequality within and among communities.
